Thank you bryanzellar. I fully agree with what you've said as well. Your words mean a lot to me. It gives me a sense of peace to know there are more people of your clairvoyance in the world. Thanks for taking time to share your insight, it's always welcome. Take care, my friend.

Very well said Supremeala. You may be the first person that I can say I totally agree with and don't have to correct. JKD inspired me to get up and train some five years ago and ever since I have been finding my way. I don't think people give enough credit where it is due sometimes and judge before they look at their own mistakes and paths. Then again it's only Youtube and everyone is a critic. You really proved to me that not everyone is ignorant to understand the message of JKD and Bruce Lee.

And TRUCK MMA. JKD, the art of self expression. IF there is a superior art or style ( which I don't think there is. Only superior individuals with greater mental clairity and will-power) JKD is it. The art is in the individual and it's up to them to use it effectivly. I've never seen Muay thai beat kung fu, or ANYTHING like that. Only individuals making better decisions on an instant to instant basis, with better timing and speed. But I'll never award a victory to the art.

Hmmm. My opinion is that the Gracies are nothing to Bruce Lee. I think Vinny said their style CRYSTALIZED based on real fights. HUH?Crystalized to me indicates the OPPOSITE of flexibility. Which is key to adaptation. And REAL FIGHTS??????Bruce Lee grew up on the streets getting into real fights everyday. THat's why he was enrolled in Martial Arts. I've studied BJJ, it's nothing more than glorified wresteling with some kicks and elbows. JKD Trains the ENTIRE body to do anything.

Bruce Lee always, already has his arm or leg back at his side, before the person can react. A lot of MMA fighters, good ones too, leave kicks and punches just hanging out there, putting them in danger of getting caught. Bruce Lee: The world's first MMA practitioner.

Just don't talk about Brazilian jijutsu shit. Kung Fu is the most powerful and versatile styles. It has 1000 different take downs that Ji jutsu can't even imagine. Believe me I learn this and I see Kungfu master's demonstrations. He can beat anybody in the UFC in 60 seconds. Kung Fu people don't like to fight in the ring as ring is weak and with referee spoon feed you.

Yes, everything you said is true. If I may add, in Brazil, the Gracies weren't the only ones developing their own brand of Jiu-Jitsu. As described in G. Simco's book, "Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The Master Text," Esai Maeda taught not only the Gracies, but he also taught Luis Franca who taught Grand Master Fadda who developed his own school of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Brazil. And another called Mehdi from France came to Brazil and started his own school. He taught Rickson. Anyway, may Bruce RIP.

Gracies wouldn't be first either. The Philosophy is ancient and so is fighting. The reason why you have so many fighting styles is because "someone" decided to evolve what he already learned. One thing Lee did help with, besides teaching who he liked, was to make Martial Arts popular and accepted. Ed Parker also helped, among others. He was young when he died and he was still working on his "art."

Doing away with tradition & expressing oneself through martial arts is not novel with Bruce Lee. The Gracies developed their own hybred fighting system way before Bruce Lee. The Gracies faced contempt from the purists, as well. They took moves from a variety of styles that were the gospel to their owners, & mixed them into a new system--keeping it if it worked & throwing it out if it didn't. Unlike Bruce, the Gracies developed a more crystalized style based on real fights as their guiding light.
