With 2017 coming to an end, Katie and Derek celebrated their New Year’s wedding on the coldest day in recent memory. The blue bird skies and bright sun surely raised everyone’s spirits even if they didn’t raise the mercury. Not one to let a little thing like sub-zero temperatures to bring them down, Katie and Derek embraced the day, and each other, especially during their first look.
Katie and Derek are the kind of couple who are so easy to be around. They take comfort in each other’s presence and are truly at ease together. Once dressed to impress, these two met on the deck of the Anchorage Inn (in York, Maine) for a quiet moment alone. From here, their bridal party and family were along for the ride, braving the temps like champs. After a few moments at the inn, we traveled to iconic Perkins Cove to explore and capture some winter portraits. Without the hustle and bustle of summer tourists, the picturesque footbridge set the stage for their afternoon.
After packing up the bridal party on their bus, we traveled to the Red Barn at Outlook Farm, which would play host for the rest of the festivities. Perfectly decorated, the barn was festive, warm, and completely inviting. After a bit of time to freshen up, Katie was ready to walk down the aisle and meet Derek in front of all their family and friends. Even though they has spent most of the afternoon together, the moment of seeing Katie walk towards him, Derek couldn’t help by smile ear-to-ear.
After their ceremony, a fantastic party ensued. Katie and Derek had secretly taken dancing lessons and surprised everyone with a with a perfectly executed dip during their first dance. Once dinner was complete, the Bob Charest Band took the party to the next level. It seemed as though every guest was up having a great time.
Congratulations Katie and Derek. It was an absolute pleasure working with you both. We hope you warmed up on your honeymoon!!
